A town bathed in sunshine

Sidmouth – a Jurassic Coast gateway town

The town of Sidmouth spreads itself in the sun between two tree-covered heights-Peak Hill to the west and Salcombe Hill to the east. The Esplanade, with its dignified Georgian and Regency buildings, overlooks a bathing and boating beach.

Westward are the Chit Rocks and the Connaught Gardens with sheltered walks between beds of colourful flowers and shrubs.

Here one can see as far as the Isle Of Portland in the east and Berry Head in the west-wonderful views! Connaught Gardens provide a most pleasant and picturesque gateway to Jacob’s Ladder and Western Beach. Beyond Jacob’s Ladder a coastal
footpath leads over Peak Hill to Ladram Bay.
